Radiohead - In Rainbows

Category: , , By Caitlin
Radiohead's new album, In Rainbows, is surprisingly good. I downloaded it this morning. I was expecting something - I don't know. Something that was painfully experimental, from what I've heard the band saying about the album.

But it isn't. In Rainbows almost reminds me of The Bends' and OK Computers' illegitimate child. It has the great melodies of The Bends, but it also has the electronic edge that OK Computer brought to Radioheads music.

Really, I like the album. Much better than Hail To The Thief, which was their last release. It's an ok album, but of everything they've done I still think The Bends is my favourite. Even though I brought a Hail To The Thief t-shirt - but that's beside the point, because the album cover had an awesome design.

Which leads me to the interesting thing about In Rainbows. They're releasing it by themselves, over the internet. I think it's a great idea. I just hope that they're not shooting themselves in the foot though, with the whole 'you choose what you pay' thing. I mean, I assume a lot of people are going to buy the vinyl edition, because it looks totally ace and worth the 40 something pounds that it costs (which is about 90 dollars Australian, if my currency conversion skills aren't totally crap). There's been no talk from the band of a CD release as of yet, but if it is going to happen, it'll be some time in 2008.

Anywho, if you get the chance, download the album. It's good. I recommend Bodysnatchers. Great track.
